This is my entry to *manic-goose's coloring contest! \o/ Find more about it here: [link]
Lineart is available here: [link]

So, explanations on the title, colors, and stuff.

At first I didn't know which colors to use. I observed the lineart a long moment before deciding that since the lines were blue, the dragon would be blue as well (but the true reason is I LOVE blue, and I think we don't see blue dragons often enough X) )

But what color would be the fairy? I thought of my favorite set of complimentary colours, which is (obviously) blue-orange, but... it would have been far too dual for such a playful scene.

And then this verse of the Odyssey came on my mind "Then, when the child of morning, rosy-fingered Dawn, appeared...", and all became clear... at least for me XD

The fairy is Aurora, Greek goddess of Dawn, and the dragon is Nyx, the Night. And, just as day follows night and night follows day since the beginning of the world, they follow each other in an eternal and playful round dance.
Why playful? Well, that's because their round dance is so playful that each and every dawn and night is unique ^^ if they were merely doing their jobs, they would most likely be bored, and dawns and nights would be always the same, don't you think?

Aaaaaand, behind the characters... my very first landscape X___x Altough it's a very basic one and not really a success, it took me almost as long as the characters. The hills... X__x It's very far from being perfect, but I'm rather glad of the result, especially of the sky ^^

I hereby want to thank my scanner, which literally KILLED my latest watercolor, but was kind enough to keep the colors of this picture

Thanks for reading, and wish me luck!
